Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County Accomplishments
Since our founding in 1991, we are completing our 90th home. Our goal is to build 4-5 homes each year.
Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County, South Carolina is the non-profit, ecumenical, Christian-based organization that gives low-income working families a chance to contribute to society, because it builds simple, decent homes in decent communities which encourage the development of productive citizens. Habitat homeowners purchase their homes with no-interest, no profit mortgages and sweat equity. Habitat's mission is accomplished through generous donations of time, money and building materials from many local companies, civic and government leaders, and individuals who want to help their fellow citizens while building a stronger community.
Habitat for Humanity International
We are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. By having community volunteers and prospective homeowners work together in equal partnership, Habitat builds new relationships and a sense of community as well as houses.
