Every year, some 300 volunteers help build our homes. Our volunteers contribute their time as individuals from all walks of life and professions as well as groups from businesses, congregations and civic organizations. Working in small teams with a Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County site supervisor, they pound nails, paint, saw, spackle, install flooring -- you name it! No experience is required, simply come with an open mind and a willing heart and we will provide the training.
Becoming a Construction Volunteer
Individuals and groups are invited to join us for a full day of house construction. HFHGC builds every Tuesday and Thursday and some Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays are our most popular day and are often filled months in advance. A volunteer commitment of one day is all we ask. If you enjoy the experience -- and we hope you will! -- you may contact us to schedule additional dates. So come once, or come once in awhile ...we're always building houses! The size of a group is generally 6-10. This can vary depending on the number of houses we are building, time of year, day of the week, other volunteers scheduled and number of available construction supervisors.

Family Support Committee
This committee provides support for families once they have been accepted into the program. They also coordinate orientations and workshops, provide resources for budget and job skills counseling, and monitor mortgage delinquency. Call 843-546-5685 ext. 2 or email Annette@HabitatGeorgetown.com.
This committee develops and assists in implementing strategies for securing the resources required to support the house construction program and the operations of the affiliate. Call 843-546-5685 ext. 4 or email ResDev@HabitatGeorgetown.com.
This committee promotes community awareness of the opportunities to donate gently used items among private citizens, building contractors, realtors and businesses, as well as helping to recruit volunteers for the store. Call the ReStore at 843-545-5868 or email ReStore@HabitatGeorgetown.com.
Church Relations Committees
This committee recruits and works with coalitions of churches, temples and synagogues to sponsor and build homes. Our partners in the faith community are a central source of support. Call 843-546-5685 ext. 9 or email VolCoord@HabitatGeorgetown.com.
This committee oversees the construction program of Habitat, develops and implements policies for acquisition of materials and services, develops materials for solicitation of in-kind contributions of materials, and donor recognition programs. They also oversee warehouse use and inventory, are responsible for on-site safety policies and recruit volunteers for specialized construction tasks.
