HOPE - Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County’s newest housing solution.

In 2024, we started building HOPE at our administrative offices located at 1907 Hampton Court. HOPE is a 40 ft. x 8 ft. shipping container that will be built into a home for those in Georgetown County making as little as $15,500 a year who qualify through our Homeownership Program. HOPE will have panels built inside the container, it will be fully insulated for the cold and heat, and will also have a full kitchen, bathroom with a shower and a tub, and is designed as a 1 bedroom, 1 bath. Habitat Georgetown’s Construction Manager Chris Gardner is spearheading this project with a group of his dedicated volunteers. HOPE is designed to be a safe, affordable housing solution in Georgetown County. This is the third Homeownership Program we will be offering through Habitat Georgetown. It’s our mission to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. This first HOPE container was donated to our organization and will be a prototype for the time being as we work to offering these homes to our community.

*We are currently NOT accepting applications for HOPE. We will keep you updated when we open our application process for HOPE*

“Owning a home and knowing that you’re safe, and you’re secure, and you’re in decent housing is
life-changing.”
— Laura Gassler, Habitat Georgetown Executive Director
